    The Oaten Biscuit was the original Duchy Original - it was their first product back in 1992.

    They grow the wheat and oats themselves on farms in the UK. The tricky part was getting the perfect recipe and flavor. Rather than start from scratch, they teamed up with Walkers Shortbread, who've been making shortbread in the Scottish Highlands for over 100 years.

    Try some with cheese or sweet spreads, though, and tell us they're not worth the effort!

    Baked following a traditional recipe in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, these melt-in-the-mouth all butter shortbread cookies are made using churned British butter and flour from Maris Widgeon wheat grown on Duchy Home Farm at Highgrove.

    Read the back of a packet of Duchy Originals’ Sicilian Lemon Shortbread and you might actually miss the ingredients list. It's that small. The basic ingredients for all our Shortbreads are the same: flour, sugar and British butter from farms where the cattle spend plenty of time outside happily grazing grass.

    For our Sicilian Lemon All Butter Shortbread, we add crystallized lemon zest from Sicily - home to the most fragrant lemons. The flour is made from wheat, much of it grown at Home Farm, while the sugar is raw and unprocessed. It all ends up in the village of Aberlour, by the River Spey, where the famous shortbread maker, Walkers, bakes the biscuits for us. Like so many of our suppliers and partners, the company is a family firm - still run by a Walker over a hundred years after its founding.

    Bite into one of our deliciously crumbly biscuits, safe in the knowledge that there's nothing but wholesome goodness in your food.

    Lochaber, off the west Coast of Scotland, was where Charles Edward Stuart, better known as “Bonnie Prince Charlie”, landed and gathered the Highland clans to fight for his cause. This started the Jacobite Rebellion, which ended in bloody defeat on Culloden Moor in 1746. He was forced to flee to France from the same spot later that same year.

    Honoring 60 years of The Queen's reign, her Diamond Jubilee will take place in 2012. Celebrations will center around an extended weekend from June 2nd - 5th, 2012. It is only the second Diamond Jubilee celebration in a thousand years of British Royalty.

    Walkers Shortbread is marking The Queen's Diamond Jubilee with the release of this limited-edition commemorative tin.

    This attractive tin features graceful images of Her Majesty on the front and back of the tin. Also on the front is a special Diamond Jubilee emblem designed by Katherine Dewar, a ten year old from Chester. The design has a crown poised above the Union Jack alongside columns of diamonds.

We offer a wide range of traditional shortbread, cookies, cakes, oatcakes and puddings, which are now exported to over 80 countries. All our quality products are baked in the villages of Aberlour and Elgin in the Scottish Highlands, and contain no artificial flavorings, colorings or additives and are certified Kosher OUD, The Walkers family continues to operate its original shop in Aberlour High Street.
